Tim Burton Walks Away from "Maleficent"
The Sleeping Beauty update Maleficent needs a new director.Tim Burton has decided not to direct the upcoming new take on the fairy tale, according to the Hollywood Reporter.
Angelina Jolie is attached to star in the project telling the fairy tale from the point of view of the evil witch who threatened to kill the princess.
The adversary from the popular fairy tale was nameless for years until given a name in the animated version from Disney. Since that time, the animated queen with green-skin has become one of the studio's more popular villains.
Burton's departure won't keep the project from moving forward at Disney. The studio is searching for a new director.
